VAGINAL LABIAL SURGERY

Vaginal labial surgery is becoming more and more popular and is a frequently requested surgical procedure.

Large internal labia (labia minora) can cause not only hygiene problems and discomfort, but also concerns of an aesthetic nature. Patients who have sought surgical solutions for unusually large labia, either the inside (labia minora) or the outside (labia majora) have reported very satisfying results from labial reduction. Fat grafts can be used to augment small labial majora or labial minora. Patients say their clothing just fits better overall after this surgery-in bathing suits, underwear and other form fitting clothing, making them look and feel better.

The surgical procedure to modify the external appearance of the vaginal labia is usually performed on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia.

The procedure can be performed by itself or at the same time as other cosmetic procedures are performed, without increasing the overall recovery period. Dissolvable stitches are used and patients can usually return to work in a day or two. Over a period of weeks, normal activities, including sexual relations, can be gently resumed.

The results from these procedures have been very cosmetically gratifying and patients have been extremely pleased with the final outcome.
