A Message of Retirement from Robert E. Zaworski, M.D.

Many of my patients don’t know that prior to opening a private practice in plastic surgery, I attended 3 years of dental school, which gave me a thorough understanding of the face and jaw, 4 years of medical school, 3 years of surgical residency and 2 years of plastic surgery residency. This means I had been in school or in medical training for over 12 years (some of which were concurrent), before starting my practice in 1979. I have served as the Chief of Plastic Surgery at Shallowford Hospital, Chief of Staff and Chief of Plastic Surgery at North Fulton Hospital and served 7 years as Chief of Plastic Surgery at Northside Hospital.

As I am coming closer to my retirement date of August 15, 2019, I realize I have practiced medicine as a plastic surgeon for over 40 years. It’s not easy to put into words how meaningful it has been to help our patients have a more fulfilling life. To change a feature that previously had brought worry to someone, or to improve his or her appearance while providing a greater sense of self-esteem, or to correct injuries after an accident, this has been my life’s work.

Endings are never easy, but I do have a message for every patient I have seen over the past 40 years.

Thank you for placing your trust in me. All those years of preparation were taken in order to provide you with the highest standard of care possible.

On behalf of my staff and I, we hope that we have made your life a little more beautiful.

All the best,
Robert E. Zaworski, MD
